Amaila Falls EPC Contract Executed with China Rail

On September 12, 2012, Sithe Global CEO Bruce Wroebel signed a $506 million EPC agreement with China Railway First Group, a significant step forward for the 154MW Amaila Falls Hydro Project scheduled to begin construction in mid-2013. The contract represents the largest infrastructure project ever located in the country of Guyana, a country of 750,000 people. Once completed, the Amaila Falls Project will almost completely eradicate Guyana’s dependence on diesel and HFO and its expansion could ultimately see Guyana become a net exporter of energy.
