The 18 MW Pedra do Sal Wind Farm project is an operational facility developed under the PROINFA I program of 2005 in Brazil. The plant, which runs on 1.5 MW Wobben Enercon turbines, was one of the first wind farms developed in the country and was sponsored by the clean energy firm Econergy of Colorado. The project is located along the costal dunes in the state of Bahia, northern Brazil. Because of it’s position along the ocean, the site experiences strong capacity factors near 40%. Along with its sister project, the 25 MW wind farm Beberibe, Pedra do Sal entered the Enventure portfolio in 2008. Enventure was pleased to partner with some of the most respected players in the Brazilian IPP market including Eco Invest, Tractabel and the eventual owner of the project Suez Energia. The PPA is for 20 years with a subsidiary of Eletrobras.
